Double Degree with the University of Göttingen

The Double Degree Programme in Archaeology (Master of Arts) established between the University of Palermo, Master’s Degree Programme in Archaeology, and the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen (Germany), Master’s Programme in Classical Archaeology, aims to contribute to the education of students from both universities within an international context. The University of Göttingen has a long-standing tradition of archaeological studies, and its lecturers have been conducting research and studies in Sicily for many years, in collaboration with lecturers from the University of Palermo.

Students will be awarded the Double Degree after completing one semester and sitting the required examinations at the partner institution:

• the first semester of the second year for students from the University of Palermo travelling to Göttingen,
• the second semester of the first year for students from the University of Göttingen studying in Palermo,

and

• after defending a thesis agreed upon by the academic staff of both institutions.

In addition to undertaking joint teaching and training activities, students from both universities will be able to participate in research conducted by the two institutions.
