Dear student, described below the information for students with residency abroad who wish to enrol in a degree program at the University of Palermo.

Enrolment procedures for Extra EU foreign students

Dear student, described below the information for non-EU students with residency abroad who wish to enrol in a degree program at the University of Palermo

Reserved quotas for non-EU students with residency abroad (only for limited access BSc. or MSc. Courses)

Every year,quota of reserved places for non-EU students with residency abroad is set for those degree programs with limited access. Other restrictions may be decided by the university and the quota is also indicated in the calls for applications.

IMPORTANT: pre-enrolment at the Italian Embassy alone does not grant admission to degree programs because you also need to complete the admission procedures required by the University of Palermo for the program you have chosen.

Pre-enrolment procedure

For performing and finalizing the pre-enrolment procedure, you have to bring to the Italian Embassy the following documents

  1. the duly completed “Pre-enrolment application form for non-EU citizens living outside Italy – Form A” (downloadable from the web page https://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ or available at the Italian Embassy/Consulate in the Country you live in);

  2. any Italian language competence certificate (alternatively, you will have to take a test of knowledge of the Italian language), only for Bachelor degree programs taught in Italian and  One Cycle Degree Courses;

  3. two passport photos;

  4. the documents required for the visa application, including a health insurance policy where applicable;

  5. the required documents about your scholastic or academic career;

 

Furthermore for:


Pre-enrolment to the Bachelor Degree Programs

- High School Diploma and, if needed, eligibility certificate for higher education

 

Pre-enrolment to the Master Degree Programs

- Pre-acceptance letter/admission letter (“Lettera di idoneità accademica”) from the University of Palermo, that you can obtain performing the following steps:

  • Register yourself on the Student Portal

  • Upload, into one single pdf file up to 15 MB, a copy of your Bachelor’s Degree, of the Transcript of Records and a valid passport;

  • In case of a positive evaluation of your request, you will find out a digital copy of the pre-acceptance letter uploaded in your page within the Student Portal, ready to print out and bring to the Italian Embassy.

Documents issued by the Italian Embassy in case of positive evaluation:
  • an authenticated passport photo;

  • the Declaration of Value;

  • an Entry Visa to Italy;

  • your University Degree or your Hight School Diploma translated in Italian and legalized.

Finalization of the enrolment at the University of Palermo

To finalize the enrolment at the University of Palermo, you have to provide to the International Students Office (Viale delle Scienze, Building n. 3, I floor) the following documents at your earliest convenience after you arrive in Italy:

  • The original of your University degree or the original of your Hight School Diploma translated into Italian and legalized.

  • The Declaration of Value (DoV) issued by the competent Italian consular section.

  • The original of your academic transcript issued by your university, stating all the courses and grades, translated into Italian, legalized by the competent Italian consular section

IMPORTANTTo be eligible for Italian higher education at the Master's level, it is mandatory to have a High School diploma and a Bachelor's degree earned after no fewer than 15 years of studies (of which at least 3 at University level). Make sure your Declaration of Equal Value (DoV) issued by the competent Italian consular section states the number of school years before university enrolment.

Enrolment Fees

Foreign students pay tuition fees according to their so-called "ISEE parificato". To do that, for the next academic year, they will have to bring here in Italy an "economic document" of their country of origin containing:

- their family income from 01/2018 till 12/2018;

- family bank account till 31/12/2019 and personal bank account in Italy (if they have it) till 31/12/2019;

- family status of 2020 (number of members)

- property papers of 2020.

Residence Permit

Within 8 days from your arrival, you have to apply for a resident permit(“permesso di soggiorno”) for study purposes to start the procedure for issue the Italian residence permit you can contact the help desk of the Guidance and Tutoring Center (Centro Orientamento e Tutorato – COT Viale delle Scienze, Building n. 2, II floor) which will help you throughout the procedure.

IMPORTANT: Because of the beginning of all the Courses is on the first of October, you are expected to be in Palermo by mid-September of each Academic Year at the latest!

Finalization of the enrolment at the University of Palermo
