New Enrolment procedures for Extra EU foreign students

Dear student, described below the information for non-EU students with residency abroad who wish to enrol in a degree program at the University of Palermo

Reserved quotas for non-EU students with residency abroad (only for limited access BSc. or MSc. Courses)

Every year,quota of reserved places for non-EU students with residency abroad is set for those degree programs with limited access. Other restrictions may be decided by the university and the quota is also indicated in the calls for applications.

IMPORTANT: pre-enrolment at the Italian Embassy alone does not grant admission to degree programs because you also need to complete the admission procedures required by the University of Palermo for the program you have chosen.

New Pre-enrolment procedure AA 2020/2021

 The Italian Ministry of University and Research has recently published the new "PROCEDURES FOR ENTRY, RESIDENCY AND ENROLMENT AT HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS FOR STUDENTS REQUIRING VISAS FOR HIGHER EDUCATION COURSES IN ITALY, FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-2021" (https://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/moduli/2020/Circolare_2020_2021_EN.pdf).

 

These new national centralized procedures simplify the steps needed for requesting Visas and enrolling at Italian Universities.

 

According to the above-mentioned document, you need to register yourself both on Unipa Student Portal (TUTORIAL) (should you have any technical problem, please contact supportosia@unipa.it) and on Universitaly Portal (TUTORIAL) (should you have any technical problem, please universitaly@cineca.it). In this last one, please remember to indicate in the field B2 of Universitaly portal the Unipa ID (the credential that you use for login on the Unipa student portal).

 

Language Knowledge

a) Candidates choosing a Degree Programme in Italian language

Adequate knowledge of Italian Language (level B2) for Candidates choosing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or single cycle Degree Programme in Italian language must be verified by UniPa.
For this purpose, an online test provided by UNIPA is mandatory to verify Italian language knowledge. Terms and schedules of test will be posted on this webpage that will be promptly update.
In some particular cases, candidates could be exempted from the language proficiency test. Such cases are enlisted in the aforementioned document from Ministry for Universities and Research (pag. 10, par. 1.1-2)

b) Candidates choosing a Degree Programme in English language

No Italian Language proficiency (B2 leveI) is required to candidates choosing a Degree Programme in English language. During pre-enrollment candidates will be required to upload satisfactory certification of an adequate knowledge of English (B2) for visa issuing from the Italian Diplomatic Authority in their country.


 

Pre-enrolment to the Bachelor Degree Programs
 

Register yourself both on Universitaly Portal and on Unipa Student Portal and upload exclusively on Universitsaly the following documents:


  • digital copy of passport
  • passport photo
  • High School Diploma
  • CV
Pre-enrolment to the Master Degree Programs
 

Register yourself both on Universitaly Portal and on Unipa Student Portal uploading the following documents:

 

  • on Unipa Student Portal: upload, into one single pdf file up to 15 MB, a copy of your Bachelor’s Degree, of the Transcript of Records, a valid passport and a CV;
  • on Universitaly Portal , upload a copy of your Bachelor’s Degree, of the Transcript of Records, a valid passport, passport photo, and a CV.

 

In case of a positive evaluation of your application, you will receive an automatic message that your request has been successfully pre-assessed by the Coordinator of the Course. Furthermore, you will find out a digital copy of the pre-acceptance letter uploaded in your page within the Student Portal: Unipa will digitally forward the pre-acceptance letter straightforward to the Italian Diplomatic-consular mission in your Country.

 

Be aware that the preliminary acceptance by the University of Palermo does not confer any right to obtain a visa.

 

The subsequent pre-enrolment phases will be completed at the relevant Diplomatic-consular missions for the purpose of obtaining the visa.

 

Once the pre-enrolment application has been completed, all candidates must apply for a university study/enrolment visa at the Italian consular diplomatic mission of the Country of residence.

Finalization of the enrolment at the University of Palermo

To finalize the enrolment at the University of Palermo, you have to provide to the International Students Office (Viale delle Scienze, Building n. 3, I floor) the following documents at your earliest convenience after you arrive in Italy:

  • The original of your University degree or the original of your Hight School Diploma translated into Italian and legalized.

  • The Declaration of Value (DoV) issued by the competent Italian consular section.

  • The original of your academic transcript issued by your university, stating all the courses and grades, translated into Italian, legalized by the competent Italian consular section

IMPORTANTTo be eligible for Italian higher education at the Master's level, it is mandatory to have a High School diploma and a Bachelor's degree earned after no fewer than 15 years of studies (of which at least 3 at University level). Make sure your Declaration of Equal Value (DoV) issued by the competent Italian consular section states the number of school years before university enrolment.

Enrolment Fees

Foreign students pay tuition fees according to their so-called "ISEE parificato". To do that, for the next academic year, they will have to bring here in Italy an "economic document" of their country of origin containing:

- their family income from 01/2018 till 12/2018;

- family bank account till 31/12/2019 and personal bank account in Italy (if they have it) till 31/12/2019;

- family status of 2020 (number of members)

- property papers of 2020.

Residence Permit

Within 8 days from your arrival, you have to apply for a resident permit(“permesso di soggiorno”) for study purposes to start the procedure for issue the Italian residence permit you can contact the help desk of the Guidance and Tutoring Center (Centro Orientamento e Tutorato – COT Viale delle Scienze, Building n. 2, II floor) which will help you throughout the procedure.

Finalization of the enrolment at the University of Palermo
