Incoming students - Mobility

Every year, the University of Palermo welcomes hundreds international students from all over the world. International students come to Palermo on various programmes (Exchange, Erasmus, Double Degree or PhD) for a period of one or two semesters. The majority of the international students are Prospective Students, or students who study for an entire degree course at our university.

International students come also to study at our Summer and Winter School programmes around the world, with destinations including Italy, various European countries and even Kazakhstan, India and China.

The university’s educational offering for international students is split into Bachelor and Master MSc Degrees. Ten of these courses are delivered entirely in English international course.

The university’s Doctoral Research School also offers lectures in English. You will find all the detailed information on the left Menu column.

Information 1st December 2021 - New rules to prevent Covid19

Dear students, in addition to the Rector's note of last September on the rules for attending University premises, the following is an extract from a new note of 1st  December 2021 on the new rules for attending classes in the presence.
In order to avoid any possibility of crowding, students should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the lesson to start. They must leave the venue immediately after the end of the lesson.
At the University entrance, body temperature will be taken at specific sites identified and communicated in advance.
Entry to classrooms is restricted to the course lecturer and to students enrolled in the course and to technical staff. Students must wear FFP2 masks during their antire stay in the university premises.
All participants in face-to-face classes must have the COVID-19 Green Certificate.

Incoming Erasmus Welcome Day 2021 14th October

Welcome day for Incoming Students _ web _ 14.10

Dear student,
we are glad to invite you to our "Welcome day for incoming students" on Thursday 14th October from 10.00 to 13.00 a.m.
The event will take place at the "Orto Botanico", Via Lincoln 2 - 90133 Palermo, and is organized by the International Relations Office of the University of Palermo with the participation of ESN Erasmus Student Network and representatives of the facilities offered to all Incoming Students.
The Rector, Rector’s Delegate for International Affairs and the International Office will be glad to give you our welcome.
You will have the possibility to get to know us and you will receive all information about procedures, services and facilities offered to the students.
You will be also offered a tipical sicilian snack!
Due to Covid19 we can welcome only 110 students to the event, so hurry up to register by filling in the form!
Please do not forget that, according to the law in force, the access to all university facilities is only allowed to students who have the Green Certificate.
We are looking forward to meeting you.

For Incoming students a.y 20/21

Dear student
as you know, the pandemic emergency is constantly evolving and no long-term predictions can be made.
In the last few weeks, some regulations have come into force in Italy that makes the Green Certificate obligatory in all “closed places” such as restaurants, theatres, etc... more information can be found

According to the new law, our Rector established that from September to December, access to all university facilities is only allowed to people who have the Green Certificate, obviously excluding those ones who for health reasons cannot vaccinate (in this case you need a medical certificate).
At the same time, online lectures are guaranteed for those ones who do not hold the Green Certificate.

As soon as you arrive in Palermo, don't forget to contact our office to fix an appointment for the check-in procedures necessary to release the certificate of arrival, writing an email to incoming.students@unipa.it with Ref: appointment – Erasmus mobility

Erasmus+ intra-EU

By taking part in the Erasmus+ Programme, you can spend part of your university career studying in another EU country, gaining a unique and culturally enriching experience. The mobility programme allowing you to spend between three and twelve months at a European university.

This is the EU-promoted mobility programme enabling students to do a work placement abroad benefiting by a financial contribution.

Double Degree

The University of Palermo offers its students the opportunity to participate in Double Degree study programmes.

Thanks to agreements with a number of foreign universities, students enrolled on particular bachelor's, master’s and single cycle degree programmes can opt to undertake part of their studies at a partner university abroad and obtain a double degree, one from the University of Palermo and the other from the foreign university.

In order to follow a “double degree” study pathway, candidates must take part in the selection competitions published every year.

Integrated course of study (PIS)

Integrated course of study (PIS) refers to educational programmes which provide an integrated study curriculum in cooperation with other international universities and mobility periods for students and teaching staff. It has a minimum duration of 3 months and a number of credits not less than 15 CFU.

A Visiting Student is a student enrolled at an external University who has decided to complete a study period or an internship at a department within the University of Palermo.
