Palermo is the capital of art and culture thanks to its Arabic, Norman, Byzantine signs and its ancient buildings, as well as the modern and contemporary art galleries and theaters, including one of the most important in Europe, the Teatro Massimo. In Palermo even the food is famous all around the world. Palermo is one of the world’s capitals of street food, and has an important tradition of food and wine that reveals its past and its multicultural present.Compared to other cities of Italy, Palermo stands out not only for its rich artistic heritage but for the mild and sunny weather it has throughout the year. Even in winter you can enjoy a beautiful and clear sky.

Winter School 2015
Our intensive courses last 40 hours. There are courses for every level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the European Council, with levels from beginner to advanced. The lessons take place in the morning, from 9 to 1 am with qualified mother tongue teachers, and they are combined with afternoon activities with teachers and tutors, young Italian university students who support our students inside and outside the classroom in social and entertaining activities.

What we offer in addition to the course:  activities outside the classroom

Nights out
Every weekend the School organises “aperitivo” (a pre-meal drink served with a wide variety of finger food) in popular bars of the city centre where you will enjoy concerts and live music.

Palermo, the capital of street food
“Panelle, crocché, arancine, panino con la milza, sfincione, cannoli” are the symbols of a thousand-year old gastronomic tradition that brings together Arabs, Jews, Spaniards, Normans and other populations who used to live in Sicily. The School

Our location
The Italian Language School is located in the ex convent of Sant’Antonino, a building from the XVII century. The building has been recently and entirely refurbished and it is also the location of Palermo University Language Centre. The School is right in the heart of Palermo and it is well served by public transport. It is very close to the central railway station and to the historical market “Ballarò”. Our classrooms are all air-conditioned and they all offer a well-equipped learning environment.

Our teachers
Our mother tongue teachers are highly qualified and they all hold a university degree plus relevant qualifications in education – a postgraduate diploma or a PhD. The teaching staff is continuously trained through a life long learning programme on the most up-to-date teaching methodologies. The teachers are regularly evaluated through satisfaction questionnaires filled in by the students and through the supervision of senior teachers and trainers.

 Our trainees
Italian students from the University of Palermo will support you during your studies in Palermo, in social and entertaining activities. They will contribute to building up your relationship with the new cultural and social environment and they will contribute to developing your language learning process through non-formal learning.
