Enseñanza mutua en línea: una investigación piloto realizada con los estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

In academic year 2020-2021, a pilot research was carried out on distance peer teaching, which was hypothesized as effective tool to reduce some of the negative effects that distance teaching, imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic, caused among students enrolled in the first year of the three-year degree course in Educational Sciences at the University of Palermo during the academic year 2019-2020. Nineteen students attending the second year of this course, after having participated in a specific training activity (15 h), from March to June 2021 helped 35 fellow students to advance their careers by catching up as many first-year exams as possible through distance support. In July 2021, the group of 35 late students took 38 backlogged exams of a total of 57: therefore, two thirds of the backlogged exams of first year were recovered. At the end of the activity, tutees improved their understanding of the disciplines taught by the 19 tutors. The tested model can be repurposed in face-to-face peer teaching for its good results.
