Master’s Degree in BioGeoSciences & Global Change (BGC)
The Master’s Degree in BioGeoSciences & Global Change (BGC) provides advanced training in biological and geoscientific disciplines aimed at understanding and addressing the challenges of global change. Students acquire a solid background on biosphere functioning, ecosystem dynamics and the responses of organisms and ecological systems to climate change and human pressures.
The programme is organised into two complementary curricula, sharing a common scientific foundation while allowing students to tailor their education towards different perspectives:
· Biodiversity Monitoring and Management, focused on biodiversity assessment, habitat and species management, environmental policies and applied tools for conservation and sustainable management;
· Biosphere Dynamics and Climate Change, dedicated to the study of past and present climate change, biosphere–climate interactions and ecosystem resilience.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, hands-on activities and the use of advanced methodologies (GIS-based analyses, bioindicators, environmental monitoring), the programme prepares graduates for careers in environmental management, biodiversity monitoring and conservation, research and support to sustainability-oriented policies.
