Abstract

The design in the various sectors of decorative and industrial arts for Ernesto Basile represents a unitary fact linked to architectural composition. His activity in the different artistic sectors stands out above all for his ability to identify autonomous fields of research and experimentation. The truly innovative scope of Basile’s role lies above all in his being probably the only Italian architect of international level consciously devoted to the principle of integral design and to an effective leveling of the arts. This will lead him in the arc of his entire activity, from the integral project to industrial design, to anticipate the birth of the figure of the designer.
