Abstract

- The relationship between tourists and residents is profoundly changed by the advent of alternative tourism characterized by the idea of a tourism experience built around authenticity and sustainability of the tourist experience. - Tourist shopping has become a major motivation for travel choice and is a mode of tourist consumption to get in touch with the material culture of places and people. - The culture of the night brings with it the idea of a tourist consumption practice linked to the concept of social time that re-organises the uses of spaces and "negotiates" the social roles of the tourist between licit and illicit.
