Abstract

The book examines the impact of religious education in the Archdiocese of Monreale on the transmission of civic culture. Focusing on the influence of catechism and religious activities, it highlights the Church's contribution in the formation of essential civic values such as legality, respect for rules and public ethics, in a Sicilian context marked by the fight against the Mafia. Through the analysis of the role of religious educators and teachers in the transmission of these values, the text reflects on the relationship between civic culture, distrust of institutions and political participation, showing how religious education can promote a conscious citizenship. The text argues that, despite the context of increasing secularization, the Church continues to play a central role in the formation of civic culture.
