Riscrivere la città: Inside Out Project e Pangrel, esperienze d’arte urbana a Palermo

Abstract

In 2018 Palermo, Italian Capital of Culture, has been the focus of many artistic experiences aimed at rewriting the urban environment and rethinking new forms of acceptance and integration. Inside Out Project e Pangrel, two different but integrable urban art models, discussed these issues with the aim of awakening the gaze of those who live and cross the city; so he/she can have new awareness and he/she can be able to act in space redesigned by these artistic interventions. The collective action of Inside Out Project wants to show that the differences and the contradictions between cultures are false and misleading: gaze, free from usual ways of seeing, and collective action produce new spaces and new ways of acting. Pangrel Project resignifies images and symbols contaminating them with the forms of popular culture, projects the traditional forms into the future and gives them a new sense consistent with their history.
