Dr. Ivano Benedetti is full Professor of Aerospace Structures in the Department of Engineering of the University of Palermo (Italy).

He is component of the Teaching Board of the Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering.

He is component of the Scientific Board of the PhD School in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Management and Aerospace Innovation.

He is component of the Scientific Board of the PhD School in Civil, Environmental and Materials Enginering.

He has been (2009-2015) member of the Scientific Board of the PhD in Technology and Management of Aeronautical Infrastructures of the University Kore of Enna, Italy.

 

In 2019 and 2022 he has been Invited Foreign Professor at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA), Rouen Normandie, France.

Between 2015 and 2016 he has been Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the Department of Mechanical Enginering of the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern Univeristy, Evanston, Illinois, USA.

Between 2011 and 2013 he has been Marie Curie Intra-European Fellow at the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College London, UK.

 

In 2008 he obtained a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy.

In 2001 he obtained a Master in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy.

 

Has authored overall more than 110 scientific papers, in leading international peer reviewed journals, book chapters and national and international conference proceedings.

He is member of the Editorial Board of


Since 2013, he is member of:

  • International Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Damage and Fracture Mechanics
  • Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Conference on Boundary Element and Meshless techniques.

He serves as referee for several international journals.

 

His research interests include: Computational modelling of materials and structures, Damage and fracture mechanics, Structural Health Monitoring, Micromechanics, Multiscale modelling, Polycrystalline materials, Composite materials, Piezoelectric materials, Finite and Boundary Element Method (FEM and BEM), fast BEM solvers.
