Regional Forum on Sustainability and Ecological Transition (30 March 2023)
The CSTE proposes the launch of a first Regional Forum on Sustainability and Ecological Transition on 30 March 2023. Here, a dialogue process will be launched for collaboration between different stakeholders, belonging to the public, private and civil society sectors, which will foster their participation for the localisation of the SDGs in the Mediterranean context. Through this collaboration, local actors will contribute to creating shared strategies for sustainable development by combining a wide range of participatory methods and tools.

Presentation of the Centre for Sustainability and Ecological Transition to the Student Community
On Tuesday 7 February 2023, the presentation of the University's Centre for Sustainability and Ecological Transition to the Student Community was held in the Schembri Room of ERSU, inside the "Santi Romano" residence in Viale delle Scienze.
The meeting, organised by the delegates for relations with the CSTE Student Associations and introduced by the Pro-rector for Student Life, Prof. Francesco Cappello, was coordinated by the CSTE Director and saw the active participation of numerous students.
The Centre's main projects, the training activities (inter- and post-graduate) promoted and the dynamics of future and integrated intervention that it intends to implement together with the University Student Community were briefly described below:
Establishment of the "Green Council of UNIPA Student Associations", with consultative status within the CSTE, consisting of representatives of the University Student Associations.
Joining the "Network of University Green Councils" at national level.
Creation of a "Pole of the South" of Sustainability and Ecological Transition to include the universities and student associations of Sicily and southern Italy.
Winter School 2023 Energy transition and fundamental rights
The doctoral courses in "Human Rights: Evolution, Protection and Limits", "Legal Pluralisms. Ancient and Current Perspectives", "Systems Dynamics" and "Ecological Transition", in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainability and Ecological Transition and the Master's Degree Course in "Law and Technique of Ecological Transition" of the University of Palermo, are organising the Winter School entitled: Energy Transition and Fundamental Rights.
The Winter School will be dedicated to the theme of the protection of fundamental rights in the context of processes of energy transition.
The interdisciplinary and transversal nature of the scientific debate will be the two essential features of the Winter School. An ideal path will thus be traced which, through the constant recourse to a human rights based approach, will make it possible to test the mutual interference between energy transition and the protection of rights, increasingly understood not as a mere negative limitation of public policies, but as a renewed and unequivocal moment of finalistic relapse of the entire development path.

Social Inequalities in Health: Reflections on the Application of the Marmot Model in Italy
The aim of the event is to create synergies between different Italian realities through the comparison of experiences gained in regional and local contexts. The discussion among stakeholders will be led by Prof. Michael Marmot, a distinguished expert on Social Inequalities in Health at a global level, who will show the results achieved at a local level by a network of English cities, the so-called "Marmot Cities". Although the Italian reality is different from the Anglo-Saxon one, their experience will contribute to increase knowledge on strategies, actions/interventions to be implemented at the local level considering the lens of equity.
