The University of Palermo joins the youth network "University for SDG," a national network of young university students structured in territorial hubs that starts from the assumption that youth participation is a fundamental element to achieve a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable society. Thanks also to the collaboration with the Rector's Council of the University of Palermo, a platform for dialogue with student associations has been launched in this regard, aimed at - among other things - replicating in Sicily the event "Youth and the Future: Towards Sustainable Development" (event link) that "University for SDG" has organized in 2022.

University for SDGs (https://www.universityforsdgs.it/) is a national network of university associations born out of a desire to promote the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), of the UN 2030 Agenda. Through the creation of an inclusive and interdisciplinary environment, it aims to provide opportunities to propose, model and bring to life innovative projects aimed at encouraging cooperation focused on the SDGs. The project originated within Ca' Foscari University of Venice and is currently present in 7 Italian universities.

The CSTE proposed to students at an event held on Feb. 7, 2023, a pathway assisted by the Dean's Council, the various actions of which are intended to be implemented at different levels, including:

  • Presence of Student Association Representatives within the CSTE in an advisory capacity;
  • Membership in a "Green Council" of student associations (consisting of the contact persons of associations at the national level);
  • Creation of a Mediterranean Pole that includes universities and student associations from Sicily and southern Italy.
