Autonomie migranti a Palermo: una riflessione

Abstract

This paper aims to show the results on exploratory research, which tried to describe a little-known phenomenon that is the start up of business by foreigners in the territory of the Municipality of Palermo. The presence of entrepreneurial activities has been studied considering many variables, as the market types, the effect of the replacement of abandoned activities by indigenous people, the presence of new service demand niches, the subcontracting activities in some specific sectors like agriculture and construction. In summary, analysing this phenomenon in the territory of Palermo, in relation also to what is happening at European level, we can notice the absence of “ethnic markets”, of “ethnic economies”, and of specific segments of market, were the foreign consumption takes place, due to a rather recent kind of migration.
