Abstract

The subject of the chapter is the study of all the materials collected in the so-called “stipe inside the pithos” found on the acropolis of Gela during the excavations conducted in the 1960s. The materials are examined and an interpretative hypothesis is advanced on the divinity to whom the offering is addressed
