La conoscenza come base degli interventi di recupero: lo studio delle pavimentazioni in pietra di Custonaci (TP)

Abstract

The resistant and fanciful floorings of the hamlets in territory of Custonaci (TP) are emblematic examples of creativity and respect for workmanlike in choosing and working materials, which made a lot of durable works possible and let us to enioy them. These floorings are made in local materials, with original designs and really intersting putting on technics, which knowledge has been acquire from the own workers who made them. The proposed research concerning a territory really rich in rural buildings, in an area known for the numerous quarries which for a long time provided good material for manufactures. It made use of bibliographic researches, relief and interviews, to drawnig up some technical cards which give us precise and complete informations about finded tipologies, used materials and their origin and technics used in working and putting on. Only with a solid base made with the deep knowledge of these parameters we can evalue the state of preservation and plan the restoration of a manufacture. This deep knowledge of the context, the used materials and technics itself must lead us to a correct restoration plan.
