I traffici illeciti nel mediterraneo e le organizzazioni criminali transnazionali: una introduzione alla ricerca NESMeS

Abstract

After an introduction on the long-standing tradition of the movement of people and goods in the Mediterranean, the contribution puts forward the hypothesis of the recent emergence of poly-criminal organisations in this space. In this regard, some types of criminal organisations operating in the Mediterranean are indicated, also in the light of some judicial proceedings. Reference is then made to the regulations against illegal trafficking and the related criminal organisations in supranational sources, as well as the related European harmonisation process. Attention is focused on the trafficking in human beings and related criminal organisations, in relation to five European penal systems (Italy, Portugal, Greece, Spain, Germany). In conclusion, some summary indications are drawn from the research conducted, the main results of which are published in the volume.
