La sfida della transizione energetica in Irlanda: criticità emergenti e tradizione paesaggistica

Abstract

This chapter reflects on how Ireland is a country that is paying great attention to the issue of renewable energy sources and is working on various fronts, although it has not yet achieved satisfactory results. However, it is argued that the geographical conditions and the needs of the present, such as cost reduction and the goal of energy independence, will certainly favour a seamless ecological transition. In this sense, the sea (the Atlantic Ocean) seems to be the most important resource on which to focus political, financial and research efforts. Ireland's fortunate geographical position implies enormous potential in terms of wind and wave energy exploitation.
