La torre-faro detta Lucaballus a Brindisi: dalle fonti letterarie alla restituzione 3D

Abstract

This contribution concerns the reconstructive study of the medieval lighthouse called "turris Lucaballus" in Brindisi. The lighthouse, now completely disappeared, was virtually rebuilt using exclusively the literary sources of the Angevin age contained within the registers of the Chancellery of Charles I of Anjou (volumes 1-6, 8-11, 13-49 and 54) preserved at the Historical Archives of Naples. These are documents issued by the central government which contain the writings of the sovereign or his vicar in response to letters and reports from officials. All documents relating to turris Lucaballus used in this work are contained in the 2nd of the 3 volumes of the Dokumente zur Geschichte der Kastellbauten, published in 1926 by the German historian Eduard Sthamer.
