Border-Crossing through Interdisciplinary and Media Studies

This edited collection looks at how borders and media influence identity in its broadest possible meaning. The current global phenomenon of migration represents a continuous movement through the (post-)colonial past, and often represents a contemporary diaspora. With a specific focus on media and identity, this volume seeks to explore the phenomena of border-crossings, transnationalism and transculturalism concentrating on different historical periods and geographical areas. This volume stems from a fruitful cooperation among institutions and colleagues from the International Research Network MEMITÀ (Memory, Identity and Media Studies, as well as scholars from other institutions. All the contributions aim to investigate social, political, and economic resistance, in which the formation of new identities through the borders are underlined.
