Application and Enrolment procedures
To apply for the MSc program in Management Engineering, prospective students must meet specific admission requirements and they have to undergo a interview as established by the rules and regulations of the MSc program.
ONLY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: The procedures, important deadlines, VISA application, and UNIPA Student Portal Registration are described in the UNIPA "International Student Enrolment" section.
Tuition fee and taxes
- 140 € regional fee;
- Variable Contribution, which depends on annual income of the student’s family (based on the previous year): if less than 25,000 € nothing is due (NO TAX AREA), if greater than 25,000 € it must be calculated according to the regulations for student contribution (from 300€ to 600€);
- Fixed contribution for online courses: 400 € (if annual income is less than 25,000 €) or 800 € (if annual income is more than 25,000 €).
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the Master's Degree Course in Management Engineering of the University of Palermo, it is necessary to own a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (any type of specialization) from a University recognized as suitable by the University of Palermo.
Furthermore, basic knowledge of the following areas of knowledge is required:
- Economics
- Statistics
- Production technologies
- Operations and Production Management

Areas of Knowledge (details)
The applicant will only be admitted if he/she gets a positive evaluation from the Admission Committee through an interview.
The interview aims at verifying that the applicant possesses the basic knowledge requirements of the MSc in Management Engineering. To this purpose, during the interview the applicant may be asked basic concepts of Economics, Statistics, Operations and Production Management, Production Technology.
For each area of knowledge, here the topics of interest:
- Fundamentals of Economics: basics of finance (interest rate, discount rate, cash-flow, Return On Investment, Net Present Value), basics of microeconomics (demand, supply, elasticity, theory of consumer behavior, production decisions and economic profit, economy of scale, monopoly, oligopoly, perfect competition), basics of cost accounting (variable cost, fixed cost, revenue, profit).
- Fundamentals of Statistics: basics of probability (mean, standard deviation, distributions, random variables), basics of statistical inference (confidence interval, hypothesis testing, linear regression).
- Fundamentals of Operations and Production Management: basics of Inventory management, Economic Order Quantity, basics of Operations and Production Planning.
- Fundamentals of Production Technology: what is Manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, quality management, fundamentals of mechanical behavior of materials, basics Bulk Deformation Processes, basics Sheet-Metal Forming Processes, basics of machining and machine tools.
These are very popular foundation topics. Books, articles, websites, presentations, videos are freely available on internet.

Interview instructions
The interviews for the Admission to the MSc Program in Management Engineering will take place online MS TEAMS platform. The interview schedule and the link to the platform will be sent to the applicant after being pre-accepted.
The applicant needs to show her/his passport during the interview (or a copy of it).
