Simona Noè, born in Palermo (Italy) in 1986, graduated in Biology (Bachelor’s Degree) in 2011 and afterwards in Marine Ecology (Master’s Degree) in 2014 at the University of Palermo. During her Master’s course she spent one year (2012-2013) at the University of Portsmouth (UK) where she was involved in a research project about the study of foraging behaviour of New Zealand fur seals Arctocephalus forsteri, using the analysis of stable isotope ratios of carbon and nitrogen (δ13C and δ15N) of sampled vibrissae.

After graduation, in 2014, Simona earned a professional qualification as Biologist and in 2015 she started a PhD in Earth and Marine Science, at the University of Palermo. She is currently focused on the response of native Mediterranean coastal ecosystems to biological invasions. She is, particularly, studying the interaction between the alien crab Percnon gibbesi and native community and she is also investigating the mechanisms potentially regulating the spread of invasive macroalge of the genre Caulerpa analyzing invasive algae- native herbivore interactions.
