Ascolta

This lecture aims to discuss the primary challenges faced by Ukrainian migrants integrating into Polish society. It draws upon a diverse array of empirical data collected from several research initiatives, including findings from 2018 focus groups with institutional representatives involved with migrants, interviews from 2020-2021 with the migrants themselves, and a media discourse analysis spanning 2022-2024 that focuses mostly on societal issues. Additionally, the lecture incorporates extensive research notes gathered through years of ethnographic work within the Ukrainian migrant community in Opole, complemented by a literature review that provides broader contextual understanding of the discussed issues.

The lecturer is a sociologist (MA) and linguist affiliated with the Department of Sociology at the University of Opole. He is an experienced researcher and academic instructor with a commitment to migration studies in Poland. Since 2015, he has engaged with this field, initially as a member of student organizations and participant in international projects, and subsequently as an academic teacher. Since 2022, he has served as the Academic Coordinator for the Intercultural Communication Studies program at the University of Opole. In his work he uses qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods of data analysis.
