Faculty of Engineering
LM-28 – ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
LM 28 – INGEGNERIA ELETTRICA
Educational objectives – professional opportunities for graduates
The degree course aims at training engineers with specialist and advanced competences for the design, planning, construction, running, control and management of electric power production transmission and distribution plants and their components. Students will learn how to apply this knowledge to the relevant environmental, economic, legal and safety implications, through an interdisciplinary approach to complex problems. They will be able to propose innovative solutions, and conceive, plan, design and run complex and/or innovative systems, processes, tests and services.
The educational programme, that includes advanced courses dealing with conceptual, content-related, methodological and design aspects of the typical sectors of electrical engineering, is completed through core and applied support from other related disciplines. The coursework, that focuses on professional ethics, is integrated with economic and business competences not only within curricular courses, but also through specific seminars.
Electrical engineers might find career opportunities in the field of production, design, planning and programming, management of systems and services, in all the sectors where electric energy is an important issue, both in the private professional practice, manufacturing and service companies, as well as in the public administration.
Examples of possible career destinations are as follows:
- companies producing devices, electric machines and power electronic systems for industrial automation and robotics;
- companies and agencies in the field of design, planning, construction, running, control and management of electric power production, transmission and distribution plants;
- plants and networks for electric transportation systems;
- companies and agencies providing public services at large.
