Educational objectives and professional opportunities for graduates

This 2nd cycle degree course provides students with advanced knowledge of professional and research issues as well as the field of environmental upgrading and naturalistic engineering. The programme is designed to prepare students to face and manage complex issues related to the defence of territory, fluvial upgrading, soil defence and conservation as well as hydraulic-forest arrangements through naturalistic engineering techniques.

The educational programme builds upon current professional issues and the high-quality research experience of the Faculties of Agriculture and Science regarding several research topics ranging from environmental and applied botany to economic evaluation of natural goods and interventions.

The coursework is structured to achieve the assurance of the following learning objectives. Graduates will

 - recognize the environmental degradation processes and monitor them on hydrographical basin scale;

 - use bioindicators in environmental monitoring and upgrading;

 - recognize the most suited vegetal species for interventions in which plants are used as construction material;

 - design and carry out prevention and control actions through agronomic techniques and implantation of adequate vegetal species for problem solving related to soil defence and conservation;

 - design and carry out requalification actions through naturalistic engineering techniques;

 - operate with coordination responsibility in the fields of environmental upgrading and naturalistic engineering.

Graduates will also achieve competences in:

 - the use of remote survey techniques and geographic information systems;

 - the field of economic evaluation of investments and environment.

Educational activities consist of lectures, laboratory activities, field trips, seminars and mid-term tests.

The educational programme includes mandatory examinations, elective activities, a language test, a practice period and a final examination based on a written dissertation related to specialist topics.
