Performance of Tintilia grapevine (Vitis Vinifera L.) under summer pruning treatments

Abstract

Tintilia is an historical grapevine from Molise Region, in South eastern Italy. To increase the oenological potential of this grapevine it is necessary to take part with specific treatments and above all to study the influence of summer pruning on quality grape. So the experimental design was defined with 3 different treatments: untrimmed and unthinned (control); trimmed and unthinned; untrimmed and thinned. The treatments has shown that quality of grape, during ripening and at harvest, is not significantly different between trimmed or thinned vines. The trimmed plants have presented an advantageous leaf-fruit ratio, balancing the high production by a subsequent lateral regrowth which improved oenological potential of grape.
