Abstract
This article explores the pedagogy of Don Lorenzo Milani, with a special focus on the girls of Barbiana. In the 1950s on the slopes of Monte Giovi it was almost unthinkable that women could devote themselves to study, especially if they were the daughters of peasants or workers, studying was considered useless. Don Milani's methodology, based on inclusion, personalisation of teaching and the importance of education for all, had a significant impact not only on boys but especially on girls, who were often marginalised by the traditional education system. Through an analysis of teaching practices and the direct testimonies of former students, the article illustrates how Don Milani's approach helped to promote educational equality, highlighting the contemporary value of his pedagogical ideas and their potential to address current educational challenges.
