Abstract

This paper presents the design and analysis of a reconfigurable dual-band antenna utilizing liquid crystal (LC) materials for IoT applications. The antenna design incorporates a pair-slot structure and employs an external controlled voltage to modify the dielectric permittivity of the LC mixture, enabling frequency agility. Through comprehensive simulations and measurements, the effectiveness of the proposed antenna design is validated. The results demonstrate dual-band operation with frequency agility of 14% and 7.6% in the first and second frequency bands, respectively. The antenna exhibits desirable circular polarization characteristics, making it suitable for IoT applications. Furthermore, the proposed antenna offers a simulated high gain at different frequencies, emphasizing its ability to concentrate and amplify radiated power in the desired direction. Overall, this reconfigurable dual-band antenna shows promising performance and potential for effective wireless communication in IoT devises.
