Abstract

Emblematic example of old architecture linked to the veneration of a natural place and its elements, the Sanctuary of Santa Cristina in Paulilatino in the province of Oristano in Central Sardinia; it will help us to understand how the search for formal, symbolic solutions was a stimulus enabling the nuraghic pre-historic civilisations to create and build this “Holy Well” tomb. An example of high architecture and technology for its innovative building systems and sophisticated static calculations, this Bronze Age Sanctuary, in exalting the use of stone, transmits refined building aspects as evidence of the advanced technological nuraghic culture.
