The PhD course in Experimental and Molecular Medicine provides a multidisciplinary range of concepts and morphological, physiological and pathophysiological understanding of the human body, with particular attention to the study of the human anatomy and physiology, neuroscience, surgical pathophysiology and pediatric and neonatal pathologies. PhD students will have the opportunity to learn the most modern scientific research methods in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, molecular medicine, neuroscience and surgical techniques, gaining experience with experimental “in vitro" and "in vivo" models, also through the use of bio-artificial and bio-informatic systems, as well as studying the mechanisms of onset, and new diagnostic and treatment methods, of a wide spectrum of human diseases. The interdisciplinarity of the program offered is designed to provide students with solid technical and scientific expertise in the biomedical field. Students will be encouraged to apply original ideas and advanced methods in their research projects. Our main aim is indeed for the students to develop the ability to independently tackle a scientific problem, to choose the appropriate investigative and analytic methods, as well as stimulating their ability to reason and objectively evaluate the results obtained.

From XXV cycle, the PhD course in Experimental and Molecular Medicine is part of the PhD School of BIOMEDICINE AND NEUROSCIENCE, that includes four courses: Experimental and Molecular Medicine - Experimental Oncobiology - Neurosensorial Physiopathology - Neuroscience and Behavioral Disorders. For more informations on course modalities, please contact the UNIPA Graduate Office.
From XXVI cycle, the PhD School of BIOMEDICINE AND NEUROSCIENCE jointed with the NEUROSCIENCE GRADUATE PROGRAM of the University of Texas Medical Branch (Galveston, TX, USA). Students may require admission to both PhD Course and to obtain both PhD degree.
