The Biodiversity Gateway of Palermo hosts the INNAQUE project
The INNAQUE project hosted at the Palermo Biodiversity Gateway
The first workshop of the INNAQUE – Integrating Innovative Nature-based Solutions for Resilient Aquatic Ecosystems project has started at the Biodiversity Gateway of the University of Palermo. The project is an international initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
At the University of Palermo, the initiative is organized by the CSTE – Centre for Sustainability and Ecological Transition, directed by Prof. Maurizio Cellura, and involves a consortium of nine universities and research institutions from Europe, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
The workshop focuses on the design of the INNAQUE educational programme, with particular emphasis on developing applied skills for the sustainable and resilient management of aquatic ecosystems, integrating nature-based solutions and innovative approaches.
The opening session featured contributions from Prof. Maria Giovanna Parisi and Prof. Ivana Lo Nigro, who highlighted the strategic role of the University of Palermo within the project, especially in the fields of marine sciences, educational innovation and knowledge transfer.
Other University of Palermo academics involved in the project include Prof. Mauro De Marchis, Prof. Fabio Lo Verde and Prof. Valerio Noto, confirming the University’s strong multidisciplinary commitment to sustainability and ecological transition.
