MARE Advanced Skills Course on Photovoltaic Systems Held at Politecnico di Torino

Ascolta

From June 16 to 20, Politecnico di Torino hosted the Advanced Skills course “Photovoltaic Generators and Systems”, as part of the MARE project. The course marked an important step in unlocking the potential of renewable energy sources in the Mediterranean region and fostering sustainable mobility solutions.

Designed for a diverse group of Ph.D. students, university teachers, and research staff, the course welcomed participants from several partner institutions in the Southern Mediterranean, including the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanese American University (LAU), Lebanese University, Notre Dame University (NDU), International University of Rabat (UIR), and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P).

The training was delivered by Professor Filippo Spertino and Assistant Professor Alessandro Ciocia of Politecnico di Torino. It combined both theoretical and practical sessions focused on grid-connected photovoltaic systems, exploring key topics such as system components, configurations, performance analysis, and electrical grid integration.

In addition to classroom lectures, participants took part in technical visits to photovoltaic installations and a microgrid facility at Politecnico di Torino, gaining direct exposure to real-world applications of the concepts covered in the course.

This course contributes to the implementation of capacity building activities that aim to strengthen Mediterranean partner institutions’ expertise in renewable energy and sustainable mobility under the framework of WP6 of the MARE project. By supporting the exchange of knowledge and skills, the MARE project fosters long-term cooperation and equips participants to contribute meaningfully to the region’s transition toward sustainable, energy-efficient futures.
