Abstract

The essay reconstructs the activity of Marco Coltellini in Vienna and describes his serious libretti set to music by Tommaso Traetta, Cristoph Willibald Gluck, Gianfrancesco de Majo, Giuseppe Scarlatti and Antonio Salieri. The different editions of each work are compared. An attempt is made to put out the position of the author in the context of the operatic reform by examining the stylistic and structural features of his texts.
