Prime annotazioni sul lessico delle manomissioni, a partire da un'indagine sull'inter amicos manumittere

Abstract

The author examines wording issues about manumission, focusing on manumissio inter amicos. She notes that the noun "manumissio", in this specific sense, appears explicitly only in one passage of Justinian’s Institutes (and in Theophilus’s corresponding Paraphrase), while the few surviving classical sources more often use the verbal phrase "inter amicos manumittere". The paper aims to clarify the scope and technical meaning of these expressions in Roman legal vocabulary, to lay the groundwork for a study of this institution.
