Abstract

Starting from the methodical approach suggested by Guarino in a well-known contribution entitled «Storia di cose e storia di parole», the a. investigates Fest. v. ‘Status dies’ and questions the problem of the meaning of hostis and hostire (in light of the sinonymy with aequare), which scholars, not only of Roman Law, have long questioned without reaching unanimous solutions.
