Abstract
This chapter primarily intends to illustrate the epistemological, anthropological, and organizational limits of the biomedical model. Having introduced the critical aspects of this paradigm, it will examine the foundations of "Human Caring Science", highlighting its contribution toward the transformation of nursing. Finally, it offers a concise overview of the role of the social sciences—with particular reference to renowned authors such as Parsons, Freidson, Goffman, and Foucault—exploring the potential affinities between "Critical humanism" and "Human Caring Science".
