Abstract
The paper aims to examine the potential for pedagogical significance of some of Gianni Rodari's literary pages, along which the working history of our country flows, the history of many families and many childhoods that return the signs of an Italy on the move in the second half of the twentieth century. The choice of the writing of the master of Omegna, in this sense, satisfies the desire to carry out a historical-educational investigation centered on the narration of work as a challenge and political-moral objective that imagines a new future, new spaces, perspectives other than the past. Thus, Rodari's thematic horizon restores the full meaning of a social problematic nature that spreads in every direction: the reality of family life, the condition of women and childhood, the criticalities of a real world that do not relieve us of struggle and do not remain fixed in an immutable ordinariness. This is a challenge that the author solves in a new universe of values, social and cultural models that in many respects are still to be realized. A new pedagogical commitment that takes concrete form in the example of a democratic society substantiated by ideals of solidarity sharing and authentic community cooperation.
