Abstract
Born in 1876 in a family of Jewish origins, the pianist and conductor Bruno Walter (actually Bruno Schlesinger) was a student and collaborator of Gustav Mahler in Hamburg and Bern. After the Master's death, he conducted the world premieres of 'Das Lied von der Erde' and the 'Ninth Symphony.' In 1938, he left Europe to move to the United States. The text provides an overview of the artist's biography, particularly focusing on his relationship with Mahler's music.
