Thanks to the discovery of significant manuscript materials, this essay delves deeply into the relationships Luigi Pirandello had with influential Arbëreshë figures in Sicily, such as Francesco Crispi, Gabriele Dara, Giuseppe Schirò, and Nicola Barbato, during a crucial period in Italian history. The impact of these key figures helped shaping Pirandello’s worldview, ambitions and influences that later transposed into I vecchi e i giovani, marking a fundamental turning point in Pirandello’s future poetics.
