Dall’Italia alle Italie. A proposito di un volume francese

Abstract

A group of French historians attempts a possible history of Italy for the first time in many years. The book’s point of departure is the exhaustion of the national history framework, based on a unified reading of the history of the peninsula between the late Middle Ages and the 20th century. Breaking with this chronology and stopping at the eve of the unification process, this book focuses on the plurality of «Italies» between the 13th and 19th centuries and on the complexity of the political, social and cultural spaces that encompass them.
