Correzioni genetiche della linea germinale umana : profili critici e prospettive di disciplina

Abstract

The essay examines the current regulatory framework governing gene editing at both the national and international levels, with particular attention to the implications of recent advanced technologies, such as CRISPR-Cas9, for the genetic modification of germ cells. Unlike somatic gene editing, interventions on the human germline—affecting embryos or gametes—have consequences not only for the individual concerned but also for future generations, thereby raising complex and still largely unresolved ethical and legal questions. Within this context, the study adopts a comparative law perspective to assess whether, and to what extent, both basic research and clinical applications involving human germline editing ought to be permitted.
