Vite in transito. Integrazione, interazioni, discontinuità biografiche nelle società multiculturali. Una ricerca transregionale sui turning point dei migranti

Abstract

In increasingly widespread multicultural societies, the coexistence of natives and immigrants brings together languages, lifestyles, religious and cultural practices. The scientific need to explore new fields of social organization, useful in terms of coexistence, has seemed of great interest in describing and understanding sociologically the biographical transitions in emigration paths, the transitions and ways in which they occur in the societies that welcome them, and the transitions of societies that change as a result of new social ecologies. Through the most authoritative scientific literature on integration issues and data from qualitative transregional research in Italy, the authors analyze how migrants use and reconstruct their social and human capital, exploring the complex link between socialization processes and the construction of the self in multicultural contexts, focusing on the life paths of migrants, disrupted, fractured, and interrupted by turning points, both before departure and after arrival in the destination country.
