Abstract

The essay examines the distinction Cassirer makes between sign and symbol. Using these concepts, it describes, in Cassirer’s terms, two contemporary anti-symbolic trends: one linked to information and automation technologies, and the other linked to contemporary literature that explores the female desire to become a plan.
