Abstract

The argument is put forward that where there is metaphysics, there is no fashion; where there is fashion, there is no metaphysics. Today, amidst a full-blown crisis of metaphysics, fashion reflects a popular sensibility for an alternative narrative to that of progress; and in this way, through its ever-conservative stance, it offers comfort to all those who feel the unease caused by the constant unravelling of life.
