Abstract

This essay stems from research into the way the memory of mafia victims has been stratified mafia victims and how it has become intertwined with the radical political changes that Italy experienced between the late 1980s and the early 2000s. I examine the case study of Giuseppe (Peppino) Impastato, a political activist from Cinisi who passed through ‘the whole the chain of extra-parliamentary groups and grassroots associationism’, who joined Lotta continua in 1973, interpreter of important aggregation experiences such as the Centro Siciliano di Documentazione Giuseppe Impastato
