CURRICULA Referents

The PhD Program in Architecture, Arts, and Planning (AAP) is a multi-curricular doctoral program aimed at Third-Level education.
The Program is organized into three tracks (or curricula):
1. Representation, Restoration, History: studies on Architectural Heritage;
2. Urban Studies and Planning;
3. Sustainable Architectural Design and Human-Centered Design.
The PhD program has a plenary governing body (the PhD Program Academic Board) with decision-making authority, and three Curriculum Boards responsible for handling matters related to their specific areas, which are then submitted to the plenary board for approval.
The governing bodies of the PhD program include a Coordinator, a Deputy Coordinator, and a Secretary. Each Curriculum Board also appoints a Representative and an Assistant from among its members. The PhD Coordinator may rely on delegates; so far, delegates have been appointed for doctoral students’ administrative matters, coordination of teaching activities, and joint supervision and internationalization.
Since 2024, a Quality Assurance (QA) Committee has been active, appointed by the PhD Academic Board. It consists of a Chair, three faculty members of the Board (each representing one of the curricula but responsible for one of the three active cohorts), three doctoral student representatives (one per cohort), and one technical-administrative staff member, appointed by the RAD (Doctoral Program Administrative Responsible).
The QA Committee supports the Coordinator and the Academic Board in the Quality Assurance process of the PhD Program. In 2025, the Program established an Advisory Board as a group of experts to be consulted for the evaluation of the annual educational offering.
The Advisory Board is composed of six members—two for each curriculum—who are experts affiliated with national and international academic and professional associations.
Finally, the PhD Program promotes consultation with both internal and external stakeholders regarding its educational and research framework and the cultural and professional profiles it aims to develop.
