The libraries of the University of Palermo offer courses and initiatives designed to develop skills in information research and the use of information resources. Among these, the training activity “Information Literacy” (code 22385) is available on the University’s e‑learning platform. The course is compulsory for first‑year students enrolled in the degree programmes in Law (Palermo and Trapani), Geological Sciences, and Natural and Environmental Sciences, and for second‑year students of Primary Education Sciences (Palermo and Agrigento).
To view the schedule of the training activity and for instructions related to the Information Literacy workshops, contact your library.
To check whether a resource is available in the collections, the UniPa Discovery Service is available for bibliographic searching.
To remotely access electronic collections, you must be part of the academic community and therefore possess UniPa institutional credentials.
By logging in directly on Unipa Discovery Service or on the publishing platforms signed by the University, you can access the content by selecting, if required, from the available options: access "via Institution" or “Shibboleth”, then “Italian federation IDEM” or "University of Palermo". You may need to install on your Global Protect device, following the setup instructions on Windows 10, Mac OS X - LEOPARD, LINUX, MacOS, iPhone, iPad
UniPa libraries support integration with the main e-learning platforms used by the University, such as Moodle, to promote direct access to bibliographic resources and teaching materials within online courses. This allows students to consult books, articles, and databases without leaving the virtual study environment.
Many subscription publishing and science platforms support LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability), standards for integrating external content into Moodle with authentication and tracking.
