M’illumino di Meno - National Day for Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles - 2026 Edition - I Light Up with Science

On Monday, February 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., a seminar will be held in the Sala delle Capriate of the Steri complex at the University of Palermo. This event is part of the "M'illumino di Meno" (I'll Light Up Less), National Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles Day, created in 2005 by Rai Radio2 with the program "Caterpillar." "M'illumino di Meno" (I'll Light Up Less) is celebrated every February to spread the culture of environmental sustainability and resource conservation. The National Energy Saving and Sustainable Lifestyles Day was established by Parliament with Law No. 34/2022.
The event is organized by the University of Palermo and the University's Center for Sustainability and Ecological Transition (CSTE) and will feature, among others, Eng. Marina Foti, from Enel Green Power/3 SUN—the only European Gigafactory for the production of photovoltaic cells and modules—will present a presentation entitled "3SUN: From the Sun to Clean Energy – Research and Technology for a Sustainable Future."
The event will also feature presentations of the University of Palermo's projects developed as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) on energy transition and sustainable mobility. Specifically, the Growing Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable (GRINS), National Center for Sustainable Mobility (MOST), and Network for Energy Sustainable Transition (NEST) projects will be presented. The event will also include European projects coordinated by CSTE on energy transition and the circular economy (Life Maremag), green hydrogen (PUSH2GREEN), and sustainability assessment systems (SDGBASED) at the urban scale.
The recently approved University of Palermo energy plan will also be discussed. This plan focuses on reducing energy consumption and gradually introducing systems powered by renewable sources, which is an integral part of the University's energy policy.
