Abstract
This essay investigates the aesthetic and political dimensions of collective dining practices, examining how shared meals operate as symbolic devices through which communities are constituted, represented, and contested. Moving beyond the functional dimension of nourishment, the table is approached as a site where sensory experience and forms of collective life become intertwined. Drawing on semiotics, iconology, and visual culture studies, the article explores how conviviality produces collective bodies through processes of inclusion, exclusion, and symbolic identification.
