La povertà nel diritto internazionale e dell'Unione europea

Abstract

Can international law - or at least some parts of it - be seen as an effective instrument for combating poverty? Or, on the contrary, are we faced with nothing more than a puzzle of norms substantially unfit for purpose? Or is international law the product of the relations of domination present in international society and can therefore do nothing but replicate and reinforce the injustices those relations bring about? The book 'La povertà nel diritto internazionale e dell'Unione europea' does not pretend to give a definitive answer to these questions. This is both because scholars with different theoretical approaches contribute to it, and because each reader, in turn, thinks about the international legal phenomenon with her own sensibilities and ideas. The most reasonable hope is that the proceedings of the Palermo Conference of 5-6 June 2024 will help to gain a clearer picture of this controversial relationship.
